Brake Repair Services in Lakewood, CO
Merrill has been providing Car repair and Brake services in the Lakewood area since 1928. Brakes are a vital component of any Car, Truck or SUV. They should be inspected regularly by a certified Technician or Mechanic. Not all Brake services are crated equal. There are often dozens of different parts available for each make and model. Some of these parts are inferior. We only use high quality brake components with an extended warranty we can stand behind.
In addition to Brake repairs on Cars, Trucks, and SUVs we also work on Trailer, Camper, Fifth Wheel, and RV brake systems. In most cases the Brake system on a Trailer is like a vehicle, however the assembly varies. This is where expert Mechanics are needed. For Trailers, Campers, and Fifth Wheels we only use Made in the USA parts. This includes the seals and bearings as part of the larger brake assembly. We repack the bearing hub assembly and ensure the brakes are properly adjusted. Brakes on a Trailer behind a Truck are equally as important. If the Trailer Brakes are not working as designed the Truck and Trailer may have a difficult time stopping. This can lead to dangerous situations or premature wear.
At Merrill Automotive we are trained to work on all brake system types. Everything from Rotor and Caliper systems to Drum and Shoe Brake systems. There are variations of each, but these are the most common systems found on modern automobiles and Recreational Vehicles. We utilize a digital inspection tool that helps us communicate the system health to our customers. It can be sent as a text message with pictures directly to your cell phone. This helps our customer see the components without being at the shop. Our Brake services include everything your car may need including new parts, re-surfacing older but still reliable parts, cleaning and lubricating parts that are still in good shape.
How will I know if there is a problem with my Brakes? Regular inspections at Merrill Automotive is the best way to avoid unexpected problems. When driven properly, most brake systems have a good service life. Driving aggressively in stop and go traffic or down steep grades will naturally wear the brakes out faster. While driving it is common to feel a rotor that is warped. The steering wheel will generate a slight back and forth vibration during braking. This vibration can be annoying, bring your vehicle in for inspection if you feel anything unusual in the braking system. Most Brake pads are designed to produce an audible squeak when they are getting low. It’s best to have this addressed quickly. Replacing the pads can be more economical than replacing other parts possibly damaged due to worn pads. Some newer models have sensors in the brake system that will alert the driver of necessary maintenance or replacement. Typically it is a notification on the dash, have the vehicle serviced if any warning lights are present.
